L-3 Warrior Systems-Insight Announces Production Award: U.S. Army’s Enhanced Night Vision Goggle

LONDONDERRY, N.H., July 17, 2012 – Insight Technology, a division of L-3 Warrior Systems, a world leader in the development and production of advanced night vision and electro-optical systems and components, has announced a $50 million production award for over 3,800 Enhanced Night Vision Goggle (ENVG) systems.

The ENVG is a helmet-mounted system that combines imagery from image intensification and thermal sensors simultaneously or individually to allow soldiers to perform missions during all light levels and in all types of terrain, whether in clear air or degraded visibility conditions. The combination of the two sensors significantly improves the soldier’s situational awareness by combining the best of both high-resolution image intensification technology and thermal imaging to highlight objects obscured by foliage or camouflage.

“L-3’s ENVG is an impressive technical achievement of optical overlay fusion, providing exceptional system performance, and responds to customer requirements for size, weight and power reductions. We are very pleased to have been awarded this production contract. This system is the most advanced electro-optical system being fielded in volume to U.S. Army soldiers, and we are proud to support this flagship of soldier sensor system programs,” said Ken Solinsky, president of L- Warrior Systems.
